Trinity House Ahoy

From my riverside studio I have been fascinated by the redevelopment of the Thameside industrial sites which have laid redundant for many a year. Who would recognise the Deptford shoreline, or the Creek itself where an amazing amount of residential development is now on the market?

Fascinated by Deptford’s maritime history I have kept a watching brief and sketched old and new. The foundation of Trinity House into a leading organiser of the construction of lighthouses, lightships and navigational services throughout England has led me to investigate the network of properties in London and around the coast and I am planning to exhibit many of these at Tony Othen’s Greenwich Gallery early in the New  Year.

Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth pre-shared my views and dispensed their patronage to these bright ideas and it is very apt to celebrate the 500th year of Trinity House.

I hope to keep this blog bubbling along with other significant Thames celebrations leading up to the arrival of the Tall Ships in the late summer of next year – watch this space.
